Students from Tallinn Secondary Schools
Topic name: Crowdsourcing Project for Mapping of Tallinn Recreational Sites
What happens, if the city administration and ten active school students decide to cooperate and use crowdsourcing and citizen engagement technologies? The result can be an impressive amount of up to date data about places that citizens care about in their everyday life, for example playgrounds, outdoor gyms, ping pong tables, ball courts and disc golf courses. In order to create attractive map applications featuring the newest data, ten students from four high schools of Tallinn – Tallinn Secondary Science School, Tallinn Technical Secondary School, Jakob Westholm Gymnasium and Tallinn German Gymnasium – and Urban Planning Department of the city of Tallinn joined their forces. As a result, almost 400 objects were mapped. It is now available for everyone to view condition, contacts, equipment, pictures and other information about those features. In addition, Tallinn City administration has collected updated information about recreational sites and can offer better opportunities for citizens to spend their leisure time outdoors.
